Childbirth Preparation Classes
Preparing you for your journey through birth and into parenthood
It is our goal to help prepare you for your birth journey and beyond, to connect with your midwives and
focus on ways to optimize your birth. Our classes center around the following topics:
- "The Basics of Birth" - The stages of labor and birth, and the variety of ways this process can unfold
- "Letting Go" - Ways to manage the sensations of labor and birth, including hands-on practice sessions
- "Tools for Partners" - Techniques for partners to optimally support the mother during
the various stages of labor
- "Baby Moon" - The expected (and unexpected) delights and
challenges of caring for an infant and yourselves in the early postpartum period
Who is this class for?
Pregnant mothers and their partners
or labor support persons planning a birth at home or in a birth center. Our classes are open to those having their first
babies or their tenth! Although many of our class attendees are also our midwifery clients, our classes are open to
the public.
When are classes held?
Thursday
evenings 6:30-8:30pm. Our next series will begin on April 20, 2011; contact us to sign up!
How many sessions are there?
There
are four weekly sessions in this series, with a one-week break in the middle.
Where are
classes held?
The classes will be held in the classroom at Eco Baby Gear at 2122 SE Division St in Portland. Eco Baby Gear is a local dad-owned business that sells organic and eco-friendly
baby products, and we are happy to support them!
How large is the class?
Our classes are limited to six couples.
How much does it cost?
This series is $200 per couple.
